Fiona Ryan

Fiona Ryan is a composer from Halifax, Nova Scotia. Fiona lived in Toronto for several years (where she became a member of the Toy Piano Composers), and returned to her hometown in 2014 to teach at Dalhousie University's Fountain School of Performing Arts. Fiona completed a Doctorate in composition at the University of Toronto, (studying composition with Chan Ka Nin, James Rolfe, and Christos Hatzis), a Master of Music from Newcastle University, and a Bachelor of Music from Dalhousie University. Fiona has attended numerous composition workshops, participated in the CMC/CLC Emerging Composer Mentorship program, and received a Socan Foundation Young Composers Award (Sir Ernest MacMillan Award: third prize for her Orchestral composition Re:Play). She is currently working on composition and performance projects and looking forward to the upcoming recording and release of an album including some of her work.
